Note from Yoon:
My family and I were thrilled to celebrate with my good friend Rose (left in photo) who hosted a luau party because her son Christian was finally declared to be in remission from his cancer. This brave young 12 year old fought through 185 rounds of chemotherapy for a bone cancer that was discovered only 16 months ago. Christian used to play travel soccer, just like my boys. He was also a talented ice hockey player, but now he will never be able to run again.
I expected to see a sullen boy. Instead, I saw incredible strength and maturity in his spirit. His countenance was full of joy with a shining smile you couldn’t miss. I am in awe of what this 12 year old taught me about never giving up. I am in awe of his family — parents Rick and Rose and older brother Justin who modeled incredible strength and faith in God through this truly difficult storm.
It’s on that note that I’d like to share today’s article which is a reprint on one of my favorite poems titled “Don’t Quit”.

Don’t Quit
Don’t Quit no matter what!
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he’d stuck it out.
Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are –
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.
